"Is it daft to travel to London?"
Liv gets this question every week. Someone messages from York or Edinburgh or Cardiff, and somewhere in the conversation comes the apology: I know this sounds daft, but I'd be travelling a long way. Is that all right?
It's more than all right. It's normal here. For years, most of the people in my chair have come from somewhere else. Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Wolverhampton, Kent, York. We joke that hardly any of our patients are Londoners.
Careful amalgam removal isn't available on every high street, and people are willing to get an early train for it. So if you're wondering whether you'd be the odd one out, here are patients who made the same trip, in their own words.

-We plan before you travel. Send your x-rays and a few photos, and I'll tell you how many fillings we can realistically do in one visit.
-Most people need one trip. Three to six fillings can often be done in one sitting.
-Bigger cases can stay over. A Wednesday afternoon and a Thursday morning, for example, gets it all done in one journey.
-We're easy to reach afterwards. If something doesn't feel right once you're home, message us on WhatsApp.
