Most of my week is spent in the surgery. A good part of the rest is spent teaching, because the gap between dentistry and the rest of healthcare only closes when people on both sides start talking to each other.
Where I teach
College of Homeopathic Education (CHE). The CHE is one of the largest homeopathic colleges in the UK, with students around the world. I lecture there on the mouth and the rest of the body.
The College of Living Nutrition. I teach on the Living Nutrition course, held at Regent's University London, where I talk to nutrition students about the links between diet, the mouth and general health.
Lisa Strbac's homeopathy course. I lecture on dentistry and the mouth for homeopathy students.Dentists aren't often asked to teach outside dentistry, and I love it. Nutritionists and homeopaths often see the patients with the most questions about their mouths, and those patients deserve careful, honest answers.
Lectures I give
-The oral microbiome. The community of bacteria in your mouth, what upsets it, and why it matters. Read the short version.

Research
In 2003, as a dental student, I carried out a small research trial looking at Arnica 30C and wisdom tooth extraction. It was my first taste of research, and it taught me early on how carefully a question has to be asked before you can trust the answer.
For my IAOMT Fellowship, I wrote a systematic review of the research on gum disease and diabetes. More about the Fellowship.
